Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation for the Higher Education Bundle 1 development at the Athlone Campus of Technological University of the Shannon.

The project comprised a modern third level STEM and education facility incorporating laboratories, sports science laboratories, IT labs, lecture theatres, office accommodation, welfare facilities and collaborative teaching spaces designed to support advanced higher education programmes.

The mechanical services package included multifunction air source heat pumps, chilled and heating water systems, laboratory ventilation systems, air handling units, VAV systems, BMS controls, domestic water services, rainwater harvesting systems, specialist laboratory gases and full commissioning of all associated plant and systems.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services package associated with the construction of a new 50-bed ward extension at Portiuncula Hospital. The development included ancillary accommodation, circulation links to the existing hospital and four dedicated neutral pressure isolation rooms designed to meet HBN 04-01 S1 standards.

Works included HVAC systems, medical gases, domestic water systems, chilled water infrastructure, rooftop plantroom installations and full BMS integration. The project was delivered within a live acute hospital environment where uninterrupted patient care and operational continuity remained critical throughout the construction programme.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered multiple complex mechanical services projects across the live Mercy University Hospital campus, including domestic hot water upgrades, cold water storage replacement works and full mechanical services delivery for a new Theatre & Ward Block extension.

The projects involved HVAC systems, medical gases, ventilation systems, BMS integration, enabling works and live service diversions across occupied acute healthcare environments. DOCL also acted as PSCS on several specialist works packages, coordinating phased shutdowns, infection prevention measures and out-of-hours works to minimise disruption to critical hospital operations.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the mechanical services installation associated with the conversion of existing teaching and clinical accommodation into new Clinical Visualisation Laboratories within the University of Galway Clinical Science Institute.

The project included new air conditioning systems, ventilation and heat recovery installations, medical gases, compressed air systems, fume cupboard systems, domestic water services and BMS modifications.

Delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic, the works supported the continuation of physical teaching through advanced audio visual and laboratory teaching facilities within a live acute hospital campus environment.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services package associated with the construction of four new state-of-the-art operating theatres and associated recovery and HSSD facilities at St. Nessan’s Orthopaedic Hospital.

The project incorporated HTM-compliant ventilation systems, medical gases, chilled water infrastructure, reverse osmosis systems, fire suppression systems and full BMS integration within a live hospital campus environment. The works were completed within a strict fast-track programme while maintaining continuity of existing hospital operations throughout the construction phase.
