University of Galway – Chiller Upgrade

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the replacement and upgrade of critical cooling infrastructure across multiple University of Galway campus buildings including Human Biology, Orbsen and Bailey Allen Hall.

The project involved the removal and replacement of rooftop chiller units together with chilled water pipework modifications, BMS integration, electrical coordination and full testing and commissioning works, all within a live university environment.

Works were carefully phased to maintain uninterrupted cooling services to active teaching, laboratory and research facilities throughout the programme.

Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation associated with the Presentation Secondary School development project in Kilkenny.

The project incorporated modern low carbon heating infrastructure including air source heat pumps, renewable energy integration, advanced BMS controls, specialist ventilation systems, water services infrastructure and educational facility mechanical systems throughout the campus.

The works were delivered in accordance with Department of Education requirements and modern sustainable educational building performance standards.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the mechanical services installation associated with the development of St. Mark’s Special School, Newbridge.

The project included specialist heating systems, ventilation systems, domestic water services, automatic controls, gas installations, fire safety services and specialist educational facility requirements tailored

for special educational needs accommodation.

The development incorporated modern energy efficient systems, detailed commissioning procedures and full BCAR compliant delivery standards throughout the project.

University of Limerick Student Centre

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation for the University of Limerick Student Centre development, a major new multi-storey student facilities building located at the centre of the university campus.

The development incorporated lecture theatres, meeting rooms, music rooms, gaming and recreation facilities, café space, welfare accommodation, offices and student support areas together with associated mechanical services infrastructure.

The mechanical services installation included heat pump systems, LPHW heating systems, domestic hot and cold water services, ventilation systems, air conditioning installations, BMS controls, natural gas services and full testing and commissioning of all associated systems.

Scoil Éanna, Bullaun, Co. Galway

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation associated with the construction of a new primary school facility at Scoil Éanna, Bullaun, Co. Galway.

The development incorporated 8 classrooms, GP Hall, library, teaching accommodation and Special Educational Needs facilities together with full heating, ventilation, plumbing and BMS services throughout the building.

The project was delivered on a greenfield site and completed in compliance with Department of Education standards and commissioning requirements.

Carrigtwohill Community College, Co. Cork

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation associated with the construction of a new 11,102m² three-storey post primary school building at Carrigtwohill Community College, incorporating a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit, PE Hall and extensive teaching and staff accommodation.

The project included specialist ventilation systems, dust extraction systems to construction studies rooms, science laboratory ventilation, kitchen canopy extraction systems, natural gas infrastructure, rainwater harvesting systems, heating systems and full BMS integration throughout the campus.

The project was delivered under a PW-CF2 Design & Build contract within a live educational environment and completed to a high quality standard in compliance with BCAR, QAQC and commissioning requirements.

Patrician Academy, Mallow, Co. Cork

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services package associated with a major phased extension and refurbishment project at Patrician Academy, Mallow, including a new classroom extension and separate Construction Technology Building.

The development included new heating infrastructure, natural gas systems, dust extraction systems, ventilation systems, rainwater services and full BMS integration, together with complex phasing works and tie-ins to live services within the existing protected structure campus.

The project was completed within a live operational school environment requiring detailed coordination of access, traffic management, public interfaces and continuity of existing school operations throughout all phases of construction.

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation associated with the construction of a new 11,443m² secondary school campus at Limerick Educate Together Secondary School, Castletroy.

The development incorporated a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit, PE Hall, teaching accommodation and specialist educational facilities across a phased two-part construction programme.

Mechanical services works included laboratory ventilation systems, dust extraction systems, gas infrastructure, rainwater systems, heating installations, passive ventilation systems, specialist extraction systems and full BMS integration throughout the campus.

Munster Technological University, Tralee Campus

Dominic O’Connor Ltd. delivered the complete mechanical services installation associated with the construction of the new STEM Facility at Munster Technological University’s Tralee Campus.

The state-of-the-art third level development incorporated specialist engineering workshops, laboratories, IT suites, lecture theatres, teaching spaces and heavy engineering facilities designed to support advanced STEM education programmes.

The mechanical services package included high-efficiency air source heat pump systems, laboratory ventilation systems, air handling units, BMS controls, domestic water services, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, compressed air systems and specialist gas installations serving laboratory and engineering teaching environments.
